Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Hi families,
Sorry it has been awhile since my last post.  November has been a whirl wind of a month.  It was great seeing all of you at conferences.  I am so lucky to be working with such wonderful families, it truly is a pleasure and honor to be teaching your children.  The following is what we have been up to the past several weeks:
  • We finally finished reading The Witches, the kids loved this book they were on the edge of their seats.  Today we will view the movie.
  • In writing we have been making picture books and working on Thanksgiving related writing projects. We have also been working on how to make our writing more exciting.  We have had lessons on describing words, action words and even a lesson on other words to use besides said.  The said is dead lesson.  They love that lesson.
  • I'm sure you have noticed that the Math homework is starting to get a little more difficult, we have finished reviewing and now have started the new material.  Please continue to practice fact triangles at home with your children.
  • In Language Arts we have been exploring the comprehension strategy of asking questions.  We are currently reading a book about the moon and this lends itself to asking questions about the moon.  The kids really seem interested in the phases of the moon.
  • In Social Studies we have been exploring geographic feature in different communities and map skills as well.  The students have been very interested in these subjects.
Today is the assembly in which the staff will dance as a reward for the money raised for JDRF walk.  I'm sure it will be very entertaining for you children! I hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!!!
