I am so Thankful that our area came through Hurricane Sandy fairly well. We are very lucky it could have been much worse and my heart goes out to those families that lost so much. Sandy put a bit of a kink in our week. But on Wednesday is was business as usual and we were able to accomplish quite a bit this week.
We finished up the Footprints program on Thursday. Mr. Ryan was a fantastic presenter and even brought in a treat to share with the kids. You may even hear them using "I messages..." to help resolve problems.
We wrote our own "Witches Brew" this week. They came out really cute with some interesting ingredients.
The students took their second theme test and I'm happy to say that they all did very well. I'm very proud of them. Since next week is a short week we will continue to work on making connections and the following week we will start our new theme in Language Arts.
Next week we will continue to work with money and time in unit 3. It is very easy to practice time and money with your children at home, ask them to tell time on an analog clock through out the day. Use a handful of extra change to have students practice counting different money amounts.
This week we talked about the up coming election. The students even filled out a mock voter registration card. On Monday and Tuesday the students will "vote" themselves on a presidential candidate.
We had a great assembly about Juvenile Diabetes this week. The whole school will be taking part in a walk to raise money for this amazing cause. I'm sure you have seen the envelope that came home with the sneakers in them.
I would like to give a huge THANK-YOU to all the parents that sent things in and helped us during the Halloween Party and Parade!! The kids were awesome and they had so much fun! Thank-you again!!
