EARTH WEEK!

This week we read many folktales that explain how something in nature came to be and taught a lesson.  In these stories animals often learn a lesson about life, like to not be greedy or to be a good friend.  Our reading program is focusing a lot on students ability to find answers in what they read and to be able to use evidence from the stories to answer questions in writing.  This is difficult but after several weeks of practicing this we are starting to write much better responses.

Wow, we covered a lot in math this week.  The students are starting to get really good at trade first subtraction.  It won't hurt to practice this at home from time to time.  We have also moved on to multiplication and division.  The students are excited about multiplication but seem to find division harder.  They will work a lot on these skills in Third Grade next year.

In honor of Earth Day we made a really cute Earth Day Super Hero and explored ways to keep our earth so beautiful.  This kids worked really hard on this.  We also watched a fact filled video that showed us the layers, plants and animals in the rain forest.

Have a wonderful weekend!  Enjoy the great weather!
