Poetry

This week we read several poems with nature topics.  We explored what excites poets, writers and ourselves about nature.  Included in this weeks lessons we also learned about the use of simile and how they compare two things.  This helps us visualize as we are reading to get a good picture in our head of the poet's meaning.

In math we worked on multiplication and division all week.  The kids love being able to do these operations.  The student that are really good at adding and subtracting are finding multiplication and division easy.  So please continue to practice addition and subtraction at home.

This week in S.S. studies we began discussing how problems are solved in Communities. The students were put into groups of 3 to solve problems that a community may experience.  They really came up with some interesting solutions.

We continued to research rain forest animals and even used the computer lab to help us with some of our research.  Each student colored a picture of an animal from the rain forest and in the hallway we added it to the rain forest that Mrs. Wells class made.  They had to place their animal in the layer of the forest that it would live.  Take a look at a picture of it here.
Today the kids will enjoy a compliment party.  They will choose a movie to watch with popcorn and drinks provided by me.  Have a super weekend!!!
