What do good Citizens do?

Hello,
This week our essential question was "What do good citizens do?".  We read several stories in which the characters showed good citizenship.  We discussed how we can be good citizens within our own community too.  This unit ties in very well with our Community theme in Social Studies.  The students also learned about characters point of view this week.  We searched for clues that helped us form a response as to a characters point of view.

We are just about finish our math book.  We will be taking our final unit test next week.  We will then review, review, review to prepare for the end of the year assessment.  Please practice addition and subtractions facts at home.  The students will take their final timed test by the end of the month.

We started reading one of my favorite books this week "Charlotte's Web".  This will be our final science unit.  We will explore farm animals and spiders of course.  This will also tie into literacy with the students writing responses about the characters.

The kids finished up their country research and newspapers.  They used the i-pads to create and write a postcard from their country.  I'll post a few here.  They are really cute.

REMINDER: THURSDAY IS OUR FIELD TRIP!!  Please pack a lunch for you child NO GLASS bottles.  Also please be on time to school that day!

Looks like it will be a beautiful weekend, enjoy!!
