How are parents and their offspring alike and different?

This week we read several pieces of informational text about animals and their offspring.  We talked in details about the differences and the characteristics that are the same.  Some of the animals we read about included penguins, wolves, elephants, gorilla's, deer, sea turtles, bears and butterflies.  The students loves animals and always seem to enjoy collecting new information about them.

We continue to work on our procedural text in writing.  Many of the students are starting to publish their latest writing, we are using the laptops to type some of them up.  This is great typing experience for them.  Next year in 3rd grade students will be required to take state testing on the computers and will have to type responses.  So any typing practice that they can get at home would be helpful too.

The JDRF walk was a fantastic way to spend part of our day yesterday.  It was a beautiful day for it!  The kids loved hearing music piped through the loud speakers!  It helped give a little boost to our step. A HUGE thank-you to those that donated to this wonderful cause!!!

I gave the students their latest math fact test and I'm pleased with the improvement that was made.  I will be sharing those with you at your scheduled conference.

We made Thankful trees this week.  Take a peek while here for your conference.  They are cute!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!  Stay warm, I hear it's going to get cold!
