Hello Families;
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I can't believe we are already through our first week in December. This school year is going by so quickly. We have jumped right into the holiday spirit here in room 201. The kids are super excited about the "Elf" that appeared in our room this week. We voted as a class and the elf has been named "Buddy". Buddy asked us to fill out elf applications, which are hanging outside our classroom. My phone died so I can't take any pictures to post this week. Hopefully next week I'll post some pics of the projects we are working on. Along with the elf application we completed an elf glyph, these are so funny I took pictures of the kids and printed their faces out on color paper and glued them onto the elf body that they colored. They are so cute, if you are in the building, stop by and take a look some are in the hallway and the rest are hanging in the classroom. The students are also keeping a journal each day about "Buddy" and what mischief he gets into. The kids are so excited about all these elf activities!
In Literacy we finished up Unit 2 this week. Next week we will move onto to Unit 3, this unit is about how the Earth's forces affect us. I'm sure the students will enjoy this because they all seem to enjoy science. This will be a great follow up to our balance and motion unit in science.
Today the class took their Unit 4 Math assessment. I will send them some to be signed next week. A few students were out today and did not get to take the test.
For the next two weeks Mrs. Wells and I will be starting a Social Studies unit about how holidays are celebrated around the world. We will visit a different country each day and learn about their traditions and complete a craft.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
