BATS!!!!!!

Since we had a short week we immersed ourselves into learning about bats instead of our normal Wonders program.  It was so much fun!  We started by reading a great book called Stellaluna this is a fictional story about a bat that losses her mother and is raised by birds.  The kids love this story and it includes a lot of great facts about both bats and birds.  Next, we used a graphic organizer to take notes about bats while I read a few information texts.  Students then took this information to write a bat report.  I'm so impressed, they did a fantastic job.  Ask your child what they know about bats this weekend, I think you will be surprised.

Today we had our trip to the firehouse.  The kids loved learning about the different vehicles and jobs that fire fighters and EMTs have to do.  They asked lots of questions and learn what to do in an emergency.  The Woodbury Heights Fire Department always does a great job with our students.

Today students took their Topic 2 math assessment.  I will grade them over the weekend and send them home on Monday to be signed.  We will start the new topic on Monday.

Enjoy the beautiful weather over the weekend!
