We started our final round of MAP testing this week. The students did a fantastic job on the Math portion. Next week we will finish it up with the Reading section. Fingers crossed that we are focused, take our time and do our best.
This week our essential question was "Why is teamwork important?. Our read aloud was about the international space station. We learned that many nations worked together to build the space station. It also taught us how teamwork in space and on the Earth are important to the Space station. We read another story that gave us information about the challenges of becoming an astronaut. The kids were so interested in the space station that we watched video's in which one of the astronauts gave a tour of the space station.
In our little groups we read a book called "Digging up Sue". This was about the fossils of a T-Rex that were found in 1990 in South Dakota and all the work that went into finding it and having it displayed in a museum.
In math this week we reviewed telling time. Many of the students still struggle with this concept. That is not unusual in my experience. If you know your child struggles with this concept please do some practice over the summer with them. They will see more lesson on time in 3rd grade.
The class earned a complement party today! They chose to have a pajama party. Hope that you all have a good weekend!!
