SHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

With the start of NJASK this week, we as a class have tried so hard to keep the noise level down in our room and when in the hallways.  This can be a difficult task for a group of 18 seven and eight year old children, so far they have done a great job.  Only one more week.

In Literacy our essential question was "How do we use energy?".  We read about several different ways to produce electricity, they were all very interesting.  Ask you child about the different ways that energy can be made.  We discussed author's purpose this week.  We also used context clues to help use figure out some new words.

We finished writing our rainforest reports and are just about down our posters.  Here are a few pictures of our rainforest posters.

In Math this week we finished up unit 11.  Unit 11 in my opinion is one of the more difficult units.  These concepts will be seen again in third grade in much more depth.  We will begin our final unit in math next week.  It is a unit of review, from this point on we will be reviewing all the skills that we have learned in 2nd grade.

In Social Studies we have moved onto unit 11 in which we are learning how people can make a difference in a community.  Yesterday we brainstormed a list of problems we see in our classroom/school.  Students were then paired up to think of solutions to this problem.  It is always interesting to see their take on these types of situations and the solutions that they came up with.

We have been working on a top secret project all week!!  Moms I hope you like it!!  I hope that all of you have a very relaxing and wonderful Mother's Day!!!

Have a good weekend!!
