Happy Halloween Families!!!
This week our essential question for the week was "How do animals survive?" We read stories about animals in the dessert and sled dogs in Alaska. These stories gave the students details about how animals adapt and survive in different environments.
We wrote narratives about our worst day ever this week. First I modeled using a graphic organizer then students applied this to their own organizer. The next few days we worked on writing a published copy of these stories. It is funny to see what they think are bad days.
The students took their first unit test for math this week. I was very pleased with their results. We are moving onto addition strategies in this second unit. Today we'll practice our timed math facts and have some fun with math and Halloween.
We had so much fun using runways and marbles this week during science. Make sure you ask your child about the different tricks they were able to have their marble do in science.
Of course all the students are eagerly awaiting the Halloween Parade and Party this afternoon. The classroom was buzzing with talk about costumes and plans for Trick or Treating first thing this morning. I hope to see you all at the parade this afternoon! Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!!
