Fables...

This week we read several different fables.  We learned that fables teach a lesson.  Our essential question was 'What can animals in stories teach us?'.  Together we read the story of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and 'Wolf! Wolf!' which is the Wolfs side of the same story.  In our small groups we read other fables which each had a lesson.

We also worked a lot with prefixes and suffixes this week during literacy.  The students wrote stories about what they would do if they were the teacher for the day.  They had some interesting plans including having recess all day, parties, and reading all day.  Although some students had a more practical idea of being a teacher for a day, perhaps they will be teachers in the future.

In Social Studies we worked on learning land forms.  Yesterday we played a game in which the students had to identify these land forms, the class did well.  We will finish this up next week.

Don't forget that next week Thursday and Friday are early dismissal days due to conferences.  I look forward to meeting with all of you over the next week or two.  Have a wonderful weekend!
