This week we read many stories about how people express themselves through different types of music? Our read aloud was about different types of drums and it included some of the history behind these instruments. We also read about a New York City school choir that worked really hard and have had success with singing at the White House and in Hollywood. Another interesting piece we read was about how the deaf enjoy music. As you child about this. We worked a lot this week with finding the key details and main idea of a story. This is difficult and we will continue to practice this throughout the rest of the school year.
In math we continued to work with subtraction and regrouping. Next week we will review both addition and subtraction to prepare for our unit test. A little practice at home certainly would not hurt anyone.
In Science we tested the solids to see if the sink or float. Many of the students were surprised by the items that did float. We discussed why certain solids float and why some sank. We will continue to discovery their properties next week.
We made Super Bowl Predictions and our class by a vote of 13-2 believe that the Seattle Seahawks will win!! Here are a few pictures of our predictions.
