Calling Dr. Taylor....

Yesterday was very exciting!  We had two very special visitors Dr. Taylor and Dr. Wells.  They preformed surgery on three patients to teach their medical students about removing letters when making contractions.  Contraction Surgery is one of those lessons that we hope the kids will remember forever!  The medical students had the opportunity to practice this type of surgery on their own word after watching our examples.  We have the words hanging in the hallway as they recover.  Her are some pictures from the hilarious activity.

This week the students are working on writing Groundhog reports.  I read an informational book about groundhogs as students took notes.  They are now using those notes to make it into a report.  We hope finish these reports on Monday.

In Science we tested our group of solids to see if they were attracted to a magnet.  We were surprised by some of the results.  Yesterday students had the opportunity to play a game with their partner and the set of solids.  They had to sort the solids by a property that we have discussed and then the partner had to guess what the property was.

We finished up our addition and subtraction unit in Math.  Next week we will move on to measuring.

Don't forget next week is a short week for the students.  No school on Thursday or Friday.  have a great weekend.
