How can we understand nature?

I hope that we are done with the snow now!  Last week was such a mess with the weather.  It was so nice to enjoy some warmer temps this week.  Spring is in the air!  The kids were so happy to get outside for recess all week.  They really need that movement!

Last week was Dr. Seuss Birthday and we wrote about what would happen if Thing One and Thing Two came to our homes.  The kids let their imagination run away with them, they are pretty funny.  Here is a picture of this activity.

This week we read several folktales about nature.  These folktales try to explain how things in nature came to be.  We read about how Mr. and Mrs. Bird make thunder and lightening to warm people of an approaching storm.  Another story we read was about how beetles got their colors.  We focused on the theme of these stories. Another story was about "Why the Sun and Moon Live in the Sky". Many of them try to teach a lesson or give a message to the readers.

We finished up our Measuring unit in math today.  Next week we will start our next unit which is Time & Money.  You'll see homework with these skills.

In Science we are coming to the end of Solids & Liquids and next we will focus on the properties of gasses.  We have a few more lesson then we will move on.

Have a wonderful weekend!
