Field Trip

As you know we had a fantastic trip this week to The Academy Of Natural Science.  A huge thank-you to the moms that joined us!! While at the academy we had had the opportunity to meet some living animals at the Outside In program.  Students had the the chance to pet a rabbit, a cockroach, and a turtle.  Here are a few pictures.

Later in our visit we learned about being a paleontologist and the study of dinosaurs.  The kids loved seeing the dinosaur displays and even had the opportunity to use tools to uncover dinosaur bones.  Here is a pictures of the kids at the Big Dig.
We saw displays with animals from around the world.  The Academy is always adding new features including pieces of art made with chalk that depict an ecosystem.  Here are a few displays we saw.

We ended our trip with a visit to the butterfly room.  The kids really enjoy seeing the butterflies.  They all want one of them to land on them.  It is really a neat experience to be surrounded by the butterflies.

When we returned to school we had a special assembly to attend.  The underwater photographer and writer Michael Patrick ONiel shared with some of this pictures and adventures.  He hopes that through visiting schools with his program that he will able to spark interest in the sciences especially marine science.  His photographs are amazing and he stressed how important the words oceans and its creatures are so important to our planet.  Hopefully your child shared this experience with you.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
