This week we read several stories about families from around the word. We discussed and wrote about how we are alike and how we are different. We also revisited the visualizing strategy this week. Students love to draw what they imagine in their heads. In grammar as you know we worked on identifying commands and exclamations. We have now worked with the four types of sentences statements, questions, commands and exclamations. Don't forget that you have your childs password to the wonders books and games. This can be accessed through the schools website. Simply click on kid sites. Next, click on Second grade and you will see "Wonders" at the top click on that and you find the correct class and enter their password. This is a wonderful resource to use at home. The spelling games can replace the traditional way of studying words.
In math this week we used ten frames to add and focused on adding doubles. The school website also has links to other math games to practice facts and don't forget to allow your child to log onto prodigy from time to time. We will continue next week with more addition strategies.
Science was so much fun this week. The students loved experimenting with balance. Ask them what counter weights are or what a stable position is. Here are a few pictures from this weeks explorations!
Be sure to check your childs back packs today. Kid Stuff books are headed home and information about picture day is also being sent home today. If you would not like to purchase or sell the kid stuff books please send them back as soon as possible. Looks like the weather will be fantastic this weekend so please have a great one!!!
