Fire Prevention Week!

This week we took a walk over to the Woodbury Heights Fire House.  We met several fire fighters and EMT's.  It was a wonderful experience for the children. They loved seeing all the equipment up close.

We cheered on Molly who is going to school to become a fire fighter.  Interesting fact we learned is that in order to pass she must be able to put her equipment on in 2 minutes.  The students loved cheering Molly on as practiced getting her equipment on.

Thank you Woodbury Heights Fire Department!  We loved our tour and the goody bags too!!

Earlier this week we meet with our 4th grade book buddies!  Our buddies helped us put together a picture of Ivan that we painted and write a news article about Ivan.  The 2nd and 4th graders did a great job of working together.  We look forward to more activities with them this school year.
In math we have been working with fact families, so today we created haunted fact houses.  This was a great way to review the skills that we worked on during the week.  They look amazing!

Our essential question this week was "What happens when families work toghether?"  We read and discussed and wrote about how these families work together.  I was pleased to hear about how all of the students are so helpful at home.

Reminder: No school tommorow for a teacher inservice and No school on Monday for Columbus Day!!!

Have a wonderful long weekend!
