Exciting things are happening in our classroom this week. A friendly elf named Buddy has appeared in our classroom and we have a top secret mission to complete for Santa. I can't get into the details but it is very important and we need to gather information from around the world. Buddy travels each night and leaves us instructions for the next day. This week we learned that the tradition of a Christmas tree began in the country of Germany. Here are a few pictures of Buddy and our trees.
Our essential question this week was "What do we love about animals?. We read poems written about several different animals and had to identify what the author of the poems loved about each animal. We discussed that poems often have rhythm and rhyming.
We wrapped up our Science unit with a rollar coaster challenge. We watched some video's of rollar coasters and then designed our own coasters. The class used foam runways to try their best to create their rollar coaster. This was a very exciting lesson!
In math we started our unit on 2 digit addition and subtraction. This weeks lessons were a review of counting by 10's and 100. This unit will last several weeks.
Have a wonderful weekend!
