Polar Bears

Students worked very hard on researching Polar Bears this week.  We read and took notes on 2 books about polar bears.  I modeled for students how to take notes on Monday. Tuesday they had to take notes for themselves.  They did a great job of picking out the important information.  After gathering our notes we begin sloppy copies of our reports.  We revised and edited and then went to the computer lab to type our report.  Here is a picture of the finished reports
Our elf friend buddy has been traveling the world.  We learned about Christmas in Italy and how La Bafana brings gifts to good boys and girls.  Buddy traveled to England where we learned that a Yule Log is popular, we made our own yule logs.  Last night Buddy traveled to Mexico and we will be making a pointsetta which is popular in Mexico at Christmas time.  Here are a few pictures of the crafts we have made this week.

We also wrote an opinion piece this week about why we would make a good head elf for Santa. They have some really good reasons for being head elf.
Next week we will be starting a new math program! I'm super excited! It will take some getting use to from all of us.  So please have some patience as we all figure this out.  Remember your child will only have to complete the homework problems that are circled.

Have a wonderful weekend!
