Do you want to build a snowman?

I hope everyone enjoyed the long break and the holidays.  We are right back into the swing of things this week, as I'm sure you can tell by the homework.

Our essentail question this week was "How do the Earth's forces affect us?".  We read several different expository pieces of text that discussed gravity.  Students liked learning about gravity.  It really goes well with our new science unit about matter too. We discussed  author's purpose, why do author's write, to inform, to entertain or to change our opnioin.

We are wrapping up the first topic in the new math program.  We will review on Monday and then the students will have an assessment on Tuesday.  Thank-you for all your help with the homework.  I know it is very different then what you are used to.  It will get easier I hope as we all become familiar with this program.

This week in writing our topic was building a snowman.  Students are writing a how to build a snowman piece.  We will finish these up early next week.  Her is a picture of a finished writing.

CONTRACTION SURGERY!!! I'm sure you have already heard that Dr. Wells and Dr. Taylor performed surgery today in school.  Our medical students observed us removing letters from patients in order to make contractions. The medical students then remove letters from their own patients to make contractions.  This is an exciting and fun lesson that we look forward to each year.

Have a wonerful weekend!
