So a Leprechaun some how came to our classroom this week. He made a mess in our classroom, turning over chairs and leaving gold coins on the floor. Apparently he visited several of the classroom yesterday, I even saw some footprints on the walls downstairs. This caused a lot of excitement throughout the school yesterday.
This week we worked on a few readers theater plays. We had two groups one was "The Silly Billy Goats" and the other was "The Prince Frog". The kids worked together all week practicing their parts and making backgrounds. We performed these plays for the other 2nd grade today. All the students did a great job and had fun. This is a great way to practice fluency and expression!
In math we have taken a break from adding and subtracting and our now working with money. We started with coins and several students need practice identifying the coins and their value. Always have your child arrange the coins they are counting from greatest value to least, this makes it easier to skip count. Today we had a lesson with the bills, this is a bit easier for the children. Please practice counting coins from time to time at home.
We finished up our Social Studies unit on the environment and we are now moving onto goods. We will be exploring how goods are made and the process they go through to get to consumers.
In Science Mrs. Wells continues to teach about states of matter. This week they talked about how matter can change and if it is reversible or irreversible.
In writing we wrote stories about the Easter Bunny getting sick. The kids were pretty creative with these stories.
Have a good weekend!
