Why are rules important?

This week we read and discussed rules, rules, and more rules.  We explored the reasons why we have rules. Our read aloud was about rules in towns and parks.  The shared reading passages both had to do with the United States Constitution.  We talked a lot about what life might be like if we did not have certains rules that we all follow.  Today we even watched and old School House Rock video about the contsitution.

Yesterday, we had so many students out for "Take you Child To Work Day" that we did not start a new math lesson, we just practiced skills through some math games.  Today we got back on track and have now jumped into subtracting and regrouping 3 digit numbers.  So far the class is doing well, they picked it up very quickly.  Next week we will finish up the subtraction unit and then leap into measurements and length.

In Science this week students continued to work on an Earth Day booklets and make make a mobile about good habits for the the earth.  In Social Studies we are finishing up this service job unit and will take an assessment on it next week.  Our next topic is about being a good consumer.

Have a fantastic weekend!
