How do we use energy?

Students learned a lot about energy and how it can be made this week.  We read about how water, wind, and coal can be used to produce electricity.  All students gained a lot of knowledge about this interesting subject.  We discussed the author's purpose in writing about energy, we decided that they wanted to inform us about energy.

In Math we have continued to use rulers, meters sticks and tape measure to learn about different units of measurement.  All students had opportunites to use these tools.  Students had to think about which unit of measurement would be best to use when measuring bigger and smaller objects.    Next week we will continue to work with measurments.

In Social Studies we are learning about being a good shopper.  We have learned that good shoppers follow some interesting tips like comparing prices, using coupons and keeping receipts.  We will finish this unit up next week.

Mrs. Wells had  a fun Science activity this week in which we learned how bees pollunate.  Student used their finger (no licking allowed) to 'fly' around to flowers which had cheese balls in them and pick up a ball at each flower. They moved from flower to flower to see how the pollunation process works.  Afterward students enjoyed eating their cheese balls and lick their fingers.  We also continued to observe our plants.  Here are some pictures from Science this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
