We Are Monsters

Don't forget that the school musical is this weekend, "We Are Monsters"!  The whole school is buzzing with anticipation!  Please come out to support the cast and crew!

This week started a new unit in Literacy, our essential question was "What do good citizens do?"  The skills we focused on this week were point of view and the genre realistic fiction.  Student had to identify how the characters in the stories we read felt and if their feeling changed throughout the story.  We also revisited suffixes and root words.

In writing we learn  more strategies for beginnings and and endings when writing a review.  Students have written several reviews at this point and they are really doing a great job of applying skills taught in mini lessons.

In math we continued to work on 3-digit addition strategies.  Monday we will review these strategies and students will be assessed on on topic 10 on Tuesday.  We will start subtraction on Wednesday.

In Social Studies we have been discussing the environment and the types of pollution.  We did a very interesting activity in which students learn about the effects of pollution.  Ask them about "Freddie The Fish" and what happened to him.

Mrs. Wells and I are very excited that the first hydration was installed this week.  Mrs. Lizza is planning a ribbon cutting ceremony for next week.
